New AppleTV- Wake with Remote App?

Is there a way to wake the Apple TV only using the iPhone or iPad Remote app?

I can only wake it using the silver remote.

BTW just bought 2 more Apple TVs. One as a gift and one for the bedroom loving it more and more each day

Mine wakes automatically when I hit the "menu" button on my iPhone's Remote app. Is yours not doing that?

Hmmmm....

Mine seems to be hit or miss with a lot more miss.

This morning my iPad remote app could find and wake 1 of the aTVs but could not find the other one at all. Then after turning both on and off with the silver remote the iPad app was able to wake and control both.

It seems dependent on how long the aTVs have been asleep

One thing I noticed with mine is that it won't wake if the network connection is lost while it's asleep. While in sleep mode, I can go downstairs and see an active connection light on my switch. In this setting, I can grab the iPad and wake it right up each time. However, I'm in the middle of a basement remodel/finish, so I've had to pull/power down the switch a couple of times and when I do this, the connection light does not come back when it's plugged in. In this case, I have to take the silver remote, power it back up and then all is well.
