Engadget (via BGR via SPI) has new info regarding AT&T stores on the 29th.

BGR has discovered that "all AT&T stores will be closing up at 4:30PM" while employees set up those cutesy iPhone displays, toss back a few Red Bulls, and hopefully receive their shipments from the (potentially armored) trucks. At 6:00PM, either the doors will open back up or the fanatics will force their way in, and the outlets could stay open "as late as midnight" to satisfy the demand.

hating my life right now

it's times like these that i hate the fact that i work every evening :(

wow - I figured they would deliver the goods a day or two before launch. With the large crowd that will be gathering waiting in line for this thing, I hope that the handlers will be packing heat. You know there will be some whack-job who's dumb enough to try to steal one from the truck.

I was chatting with the manager of the local corporate store and basically they are in the dark. The stated the above that they are closing at 4:30, opening up back up again at 6 and staying open until at least 10.

He said no clue when the phones will arrive, how many of each one ie 4GB vs 8GB. He also said that they cant buy one until all the customers at the store had been taken care of.

He said he was as much of a mushroom as everyone else.

Heh, I wonder if every FedEx/UPS truck within a 5 mile radius of any AT&T store will be instantly mobbed on the 29th.
