New ATT Customer. Can I Order iPhone 3Gs Online, And Do All Activation From Home?

Hi, im thinking of getting an iPhone 3Gs. Im a little confused on how the whole process of ordering online works. Im not a ATT customer, and i found that i could pay my deposit over the phone. But besides that, i want to know if the iPhone is sent to me pre configured and activated, and can i just use it right out the box from home? Will the phone be sent to me sealed and un opened? Hope some can help clarify this for me.

it's sent sealed and unopened. you plug your phone in and activate it with itunes.

you can't use it until you do that.

OP, why not give AT&T a call and have them sort you out?

I bought my iPhone online and it took about ten minutes to activate. You will plug it in to itunes, activate the sim card and call AT&T. They will call you after a few minutes to confirm that you are up and running.
