New ATV - wireless or ethernet

Is there any reason to use the wireless if I have an ethernet connection available for setting up an new ATV? Thanks,

I have been pondering the same thing and while wireless N claims to be capable of speeds that are faster than the ATVs ethernet (I wish it was gigabit), my non-technical experience is that wired is always better. Also, I set up my computers and connected devices via wired connections whenever possible to save the wireless bandwidth for those devices where wired isn't an option.

Probably not. I don't think the ATV allows for network sharing.

Definitely! I rewired my house a few years back with all cat 5. I pulled together some scrap cat 6 from the office today so I can rewire the house this weekend. It wont really help with Netflix and such but Im hoping to notice a great difference with the local network. Now that Im typing this it really just hit me, is the ethernet port on the ATV2 a 10/100 or 10/100/1000?? If its not capable of giga speed then no sense wasting the time to rewire!

Edit:Nevermind, I found it. Well, no sense in rewiring, its only 10/100

Are you sure that's your wireless speed and not your internet?

In any situation Wired will always been better than Wireless.

Wire if you can.

I agree with what the others have said. Wired is always the preferred choice.

However, in my case, I am strictly wireless as I have not gone through the trouble of wiring my house. Since my desktop is connected to the network wirelessly I would not get any speed boost for data trasfer between the two by going with wires. And 802.11n is already faster than what my cable ISP can put out, so again no speed increase is seen there either.

Basically, if the computer you are getting data from is connected wirelessly, then go wireless. If it is wired, then go wired.
