New ATV1 160GB Runs Very Hot

You can fry an egg on this thing, why does it run so hot.

I bought this on sale from Best Buy 3 weeks ago, and I am thinking of returning it because it does run extremely hot and I have no way to cool it down even with a fan hitting it?

Is this normal is anyone else having this issue?

It gets hot but not that hot, you could have a bad fan in yours. Saw this on ebay this morning lol

This has been discussed ad nauseum online. The exterior gets hot, but it keeps the interior componants cooler.

As long as it's not in a confined space, you should be OK. I have had mine for nearly 3 years and ours is still running fine, as hot as it is.

Nope mine is wide open sitting on top of the dresser and there is a ceiling fan in the room when it is on. I will just monitor it but I do hear either the fan or internal disk, something is moving around.
