Just got a new pair of Beats Flex. First ear buds that insert into my ear I've had. Unboxed, tested, and tried to go for a run. Turned around after a dozen steps. Huge thunk thunk with every step. Something related to either the flexible seals, or cord microphony or both. Doesn't happen with walking.

I thought I'd get these to see if eventually Airpods Pro would be right for me (thinking new model coming out this year). But right now, want to return Beats Flex after less than 10 minutes of playing with them. Regular wired Earpods are not that annoying.

Anyone have any thoughts for me? Sorry to ask such a newbie question.

I got the Beats Flex before the BFPs came out and I found it useless for running. It's usable sitting in a chair and relaxing or going for a walk but that's it for me. I also find the controls confusing. Just too many buttons to keep track of. I have not tried these for make calls but I suspect that they are better than the BFPs or the AirPods because the microphone is located closer to the mouth than on the other devices. I have not tried it out but I've heard that the AirPods are a lot better for calls than the BFPs.

I came from Jaybird X3s and have used them for many years but they are starting to have problems and I wanted something reliable. The Jaybirds are my backup now but I haven't used them in a while. Not having a cord between the headsets is somewhat addictive. I wear glasses and having glasses and a wire and sometimes a hat and mask result in complexities that are simplified without a headset wire.

The Flex are pretty terrible at phone calls. AirPods and BFP are way better, IMO

They are fine buds but those cords make noise. Save up for AirPods Pro or Beats Fit Pro. Heck even the Studio Buds are a solid option, especially on sale for $99.
