Hey,

I am currently considering the Bose Soundsport wireless as well as apple AirPods. However, I am concern that there might be possibility of apple launching new AirPods (AirPods 2) or Bose launching new wireless headphones later this year.

Is there such possibility?

I can't speak for Bose. But with the current constraint with the AirPods and the delivery times currently today, would be very highly unlikely that Apple is going to have a version two of the AirPods slated to launch this year when they can't even meet the current demands to ship the AirPods.

Not to mention, the AirPods just launched five months ago in December, do you really think Apple would launch a second version the AirPods within six months? From a manufacturing standpoint, that makes zero sense, nor is it logical.

yeah I agree. However, I am worried that apple would introduce the 2nd version of AirPods due to the 10th anniversary iPhone.

Again, it's not logical for Apple to release version two of the AirPods when Version one has only been five months available. I Have no idea why you would even think that.

completely agree. especially, like you mentioned earlier, its still a six week waiting period to get them. i think we're at least two years out from getting any new airpods.

how about Bose headphones? Any idea on how long they usually update their product?

There is no way to tell when Bose will release a new set of headphones in a product category. Here is an example of the QuietComfort series of around the ear noise cancelling headphones; QuietComfort 15 Headphones released 8/2009, QuietComfort 25 released 9/2014, QuietComfrot 35 released 6/2016.

if you're nervous. buy second hand/used for a cheaper price now. then sell whenever ever the new version of "whatever" is released

Won't see new Airpods for 1-2 years. No big improvement can be made. It's so small and cramped inside that bigger or better battery is unlikely. Smaller and more efficient chip, sure but it's already tiny. No more than a few percent increase there to be made.

Only thing I can think of is better accelerometer and maybe an activity mode for reading your pulse in ear. But it's unlikely since it would drain the battery faster and Apple want us to get the Watch for that and controlling music.

Just get the AirPods. They are worth it!

think volume control should/will be on the next gen - perhaps early next year?

Will first see if a new pen is released later this year to get an idea?

They could improve the sound quality, that could be a "s" type upgrade. Thats their only weakness.

As others have said I highly doubt we will see a new version of Airpods any time soon.

Although it was the next calendar year, it was almost a year and a half between Gen 1 (0, 0.5 whatever you want to call it) and Gen 2 apple watches.

Normally I don't think Apple would consider releasing AirPods 2 within a year of the original. Normally but blu tooth 5.0 is around the corner as well as airplay 2. So it might be a perfect time for Apple to potentially release version 2 that works much better and is more power efficient.

So maybe but still unlikely.

While unlikely, there is precedence for very short product cycles from Apple themselves: The iMac, for example, has seen cycles of less than a year more than once.

I think its more likely that we would see different colour gen1 airpods when the next iphone is released.

Anything you buy from Apple will be outdated in under a year...if you keep waiting for the latest and greatest you'll never have them!
