Stock Calendar app works OK, and it's "free".

Been eons since I've used Thunderbird, so, can't comment on an app that's something like that.

That said, I've been using Fantastical for a number of years now, as I like the unified view of Reminders and Calendar in one screen vs hopping between apps.

updated frequently with new features.
simple and easy to use.
beautiful look.
works/syncs with macOS Calendar and google Calendar.

I've tried Fantastical and a couple of other calendar apps but i always end up going back to the stock Calendar connected to my Google Calendar. Even more reason now that it all ties into CarPlay as well, if i use the stock app then when i get in the car, connect my phone up and open Apple Maps if i have an appointment stored it will offer me that destination to navigate to without me having to search for it. If it doesnt there is now the Calendar app on CarPlay to access things from.
