New Camera for Christmas

I am thinking of getting a new camera for Christmas. I currently have the Canon Powershot s50. It has worked great for me with no problems at all. However, the battery life is shot since the camera is a few years old. I was looking at the Canon G7 as a nice point and shoot camera. Is the G7 a nice upgrade from my 5 megapixel s50 or should I just get a replacement battery for my s50?

The G7 is a nice camera, as is the S80.
But... whether you get a new camera or not, just also get a battery for your S50, with a bigger capacity (there are good 3rd party ones that are a lot less expensive).
