Whenever you add, change, or delete a contact on the phone and then sync iTunes would tell you that its being changed.

Well my contacts doesnt transfer over anymore. I added 5 new contacts in the last week, and realized that none of the new contacts have transfered over to the computer. I noticed this after upgrading to 2.1.

I use Windows Addess Book. Pls help.

Make sure that ALL contacts are in your address book and that you create a backup file using "File", "Import Export" and just follow the steps to create a .pst file.

Once you have a backup in place, insure that address book is open and then go to iTunes, plug in iPhone and select the "Info" tab. Insure that you have "Sync Contact with" checked and the appropriate drop down. Also select "All contacts" Now, go down to the bottom of the same page and select "Advanced" and "Contacts" and then "Apply" This WILL REMOVE all of your contacts from your iPhone and replace them with your selected address book, thus...make sure you manually transfer those 5 over to your computer address book.

You will also need to reset your sync history and delete the old backup file BEFORE doing the above. In iTunes...select "Edit", "Preferences", "Devices"
Highlight your backups, then delete, then reset sync history.

The above should work and get you back on track and should work with any "Windows" related address books/software. Mac users try at own risk or get additional help.

Good Luck and DONT forget to make the backup.

Well its not working again. It worked for a few day then stopped. I edited a few contacts and deleted a few today. None of it transfered over.

I tried a test, I deleted the whole Windows Address Book (I have a backup) and sync'd it and nothing.

I would have to do SFC's fix every time I have a contact edit. Is anyone else having an issue w/ this?

Not sure what is going on but you may have some corrupt entries in your address book. If there are corrupt entries then it causes a bottleneck if you will and stops the transfer. This happened to me with the calender and I had to completely delete every entry for 10 years to fix it. Later I figured out that it was the Holiday calender that had stopped putting holidays in for Outlook 2003 when 2008 came around and anyone that had sent me a tasking entry did not recognize the new 2.0 software.

Anyway to fix it I deleted everything, I do not think you need to get that extreme yet. Just start reviewing each entry in windows and see if there are some bad entries and remove those then redo what I told you above. Worse case scenario is you may have to start over in your address book because you can't find the corrupt entry(ies).

Good Luck

Wow that sucks. I google'd it and you're right, corrupt entries is probably the problem. Your issues seemed to be w/ your computer and not the phone, so........is there a way I can get the contacts to sync from the phone to WAB?

I'll delete the contacts in WAB no prob and start w/ a blank address book.
On my wife's phone all her contacts transfered over to Outlook w/ no issues.

I just cant seem to transfer all my phone contacts to WAB. Maybe I missed a setting or a check box to do a sync from phone to WAB.
