New Cuda Driver Released

Thanks for the hint.

At my computer the CUDA control panel offered the download of CUDA 5.5.20 while nVidia's website offers the download of version 5.5.24. I wonder what was the reason for this minor update in such a short time interval?
 
I wondered the same thing. I installed 5.5.24 on my laptop and 5.5.20 on my Mac Pro (the main work system.) I'm testing both at the moment.
 
Oddly enough that link only offers the 5.5.24 update not the 5.5.20 that System Preferences offers whereas all the older versions are still available for download.

I wonder why the versions jumped from 5.0.61 to 5.5.2x?

The NVIDIA drivers still not compatible with beta OS X 10.8.5 (12F33). The drivers that come with 12f33 work fine, although I didn't see any difference between the drivers in 10.8.4 & the NVIDIA drivers.
 
^^^^The Cuda Driver is separate and distinct from the Nvidia GPU Driver. The Cuda driver enables Nvidia's proprietary GPU acceleration scheme. Nvidia cards will run without the Cuda Driver but they will not run without the Graphics Card driver.

I had a fright as I am in the middle of editing a project in Premiere Pro CC & when I went to re-open it a suitable CUDA device could not be found however after re-booting it all works again with CUDA 5.5.24. I also added the GTX 570 to cuda_supported_cards.txt which unlike CS6 had not been necessary with PP CC as it saw the GTX 570 as a CUDA card albeit not supported & gave me a message that it would use it but it was unsupported.
 
Oh dear! Premiere Pro CC couldn't see a CUDA device again so I have reverted to 5.0.61 . I'll let others check when this gets fixed.
 
I upgraded via Sytesm Preferences to 5.5.25 but once again I am getting an error when I start Premiere Pro as it cannot find a CUDA device so reverts to Mercury Playback with OpenCL.

no Software OS X 10.8.5 (12F33)

Its the latest MTL developer test release, not Mavericks, which is not working either.

OK. With 5.5.25 sometimes it works then sometimes I get this error message:-

This project was last used with the Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (CUDA) which is either not available or not certified on this system. Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (OpenCL) will be used.

If I reboot then it works again OK.

I have upgraded to OS X 10.8.5 & the new Nvidia driver 313.0.103f01 & am still getting the same problem with my GTX570. It doesn't go wonky while I am using Premiere but only if I exit & then sometime later restart Premiere. I haven't been too motivated to try & track down the exact circumstances as a reboot cures it & I can use CUDA acceleration once more.
