Hey all I am potentially thinking of coming to att as a new customer. i have an old Iphone 2g and have been told I have to activate in Itunes which says I need a two year contract. My question is if I sign up with my 2g will I be able to upgrade to a new Iphone in 2010 or will I be tied to the 2g for two years before being upgrade eligible? Again i own the 2g didn't by from ATT. Didn't find any old threads that addressed this specific question. Thanks

Activate thru iTunes = 2-Year contract t get service.

Activate at AT&T Corporate Store = you can get service without the contract.

Also, having the 2G means you are eligible for subsidized upgrades as the phone you have is not subsidized, nor did you buy it from AT&T or Apple. You bought it from someone else.

Are you sure that you can do that at any AT&T store cause I thought I just read on AT&T website that you have to be signed into a 2yr contract even for a 2g? Not doubting just making sure. Thanks
