I am trying to decide between a new desktop( I love the colors) my 12 year old desktop HD is wearing out, but everything else is fine, or mac mini or studio, and I also love to work on coding with java script/html/css, and other front end projects.

What is your budget? What machine are you using right now? What are your monitor requirements? Are you just deciding between the apple studio and mac mini or are you open to other options? Do you do any CPU or GPU-intensive tasks apart from coding?

Budget is under $2,000, can go a little over if need fo r better quality, I am using a 10.15.7 mac from 2012 I am open to a new desktop or studio or mini, I can not think of any other CPU or GPU intensive task, I would not mind trying to store dads on my computer/photos scan older photos from photo books.

Thanks. You didn’t specify your screen requirements, so I assume 24” is enough for you. I also assume by “desktop” you mean iMac.

I think the new M3 iMac will work great for you and it will be the best value. Make sure to spec it really well, 24GB RAM and 512 SSD, to ensure longevity. Comes at exactly £1,999 in the UK, so I assume it will be $1,999 in the US.

Why not just add an external SSD to your 12 year old desktop and bypass the old HD?
