Seems a bit excessive to make a Last Will and Testament for every purchase of their app. I'm grad I bought it though.

Pretty common here in Japan. Getting someone to check the English is expensive, and so it's not hard to imagine a developer here deciding to try threir own hand at English with the aid of Goigle translator and a dictionary. A word in Japanese or another language may mean both guarantee and will, and the dictionary often doesn't explain such differences.

Well, I bet the person that wrote that speaks better English than you do Japanese. They probably used a denshi jisho and a software program to make this translation. I don't see any problem with a developer's marketing approach. Don't bai ifu yuu no like. ok (tomodachi) amigo?

Good reason to not internationalize, it's embarrassing when it goes wrong, although in a game app, it could make you famous. All your base are belong to us, etc.

Tell me about it. I lived there for 3 years when a teen. My spoken Japanese is still very rough. Mind you, I am not a developer trying to get 99 hard earned cents from people, same as PopCap are for Peggle. I'm sure you can read between the lines.

There are other usages of simple, even simplistic English to sell merchandise that are phenomenal. Who can forget the wonderful English-language Pepsi slogan used on the continent from Italy to France, last decade.
