Hi again! Sorry again with this, but now I found two new offers on amazon:
  • 12,9 iPad Pro 2017 256 gb Wifi + Cellular: 600€ (I don´t care about the cellular function).
  • 12,9 iPad Pro 2018 64 gb Wifi: 600€
It´s for illustration, no games, no movies... just for art and mainly at home (I won´t carry the iPad everyday).

Any recommendation? 64 is too low nowadays, but I think I can handle with the cloud service like I do on my iPhone.

So here the fight is between the 2nd and 3er generation giving up some storage, anyone had use both for illustration / art and can give me some opinion?

Thanks!

I can consider also the 2018 11 inch 256, is near 600€ as well, but as I never used the IPP I can´t say that 11 inch is fine for illustration; the 12,9 is like a regular a4 paper for waht I could see at the store.

If you think you can make it with 64 GB storage then the 2018 model is probably the one to go for.

That's up to you to decide. If you are out and about with the iPad and always on the move, the 11 inch iPad is more portable. If it's mostly sitting on a desk for your illustrations, you could get more out of the 12.9 inch.

For your usage 64 gig should be more than enough. I'm only using 24 gig on mine and storing everything locally.

I finally got the 2nd gen, I can send it back within 30 days.

Screen size is great for art/illustration; I won´t take it out so much so portability it's not an issue. But I think the 11 would be small for drawing, of course you can get used to, as everything.

I can switch it for the 3rd gen 64, but I have read so many posts about bending... this one looks sturdy.

Maybe the 4th gen will be better in structure issues...

Fear mongering has caught another victim ;) This issue has been way overhyped in these forums. For the pencil alone I'd switch to the current gen iPP - and I own a iPP 2017 12.9 inch. I simply hate the way you have to charge your Apple Pencil 1st gen and the haptics are something else on the Apple Pencil 2.

Hopefully you can get your workflow humming with some iPad apps and get creative :)

Well, I think you are gonna win, the 2017 has come with this rare sound:

So I think I´m gonna send it back...

What the actual duck? Can you feel where that air is going out?

No really, through the speakers or the charging port? I can´t feel it to be honest.

I thought maybe this thing is so huge that is normal, but I don´t think so...

Nope nope nope nope. iPad Pro is sturdy and shouldn't give the slightest air - this sounds like it is empty below the display. You're absolutely right in returning it asap.

EDIT: Come to think of it, maybe someone has replaced the display on this iPP and that's why an air gap has been introduced. Either way, back with it.

Well, it´s an "amazon warehouse" product marked as "LIKE NEW". I have bought several tech with this condition and never had any problem; but maybe they changed the display or battery or something else, who knows.

As long as Amazon doesn't make any trouble all is well. Update us when you try the 3rd gen iPP with the Pencil 2 please :)

The 3rd gen it´s too expensive right now... I ordered a 2nd gen 512 Wifi, let's see how it goes...

Oh, okay, I thought these ones were the options:
12,9 iPad Pro 2017 256 gb Wifi + Cellular: 600€ (I don´t care about the cellular function).
12,9 iPad Pro 2018 64 gb Wifi: 600€
According to your OP, the 2018 option wouldn't have been more expensive. Sad that it is now.

My biggest purchase regret last year was “saving money” by buying a 2017 12.9 rather than getting the 2018. And now I’m paying the price because I’m selling mine for a huge loss just to get a “modern” iPad Pro.

Smaller footprint. Convenient pencil charging. FaceID. Slimmer bezels. Faster charging. USB-C allows a hub that eliminates my rats nest of lightning adapters. I know I’m taking a hit on the resell but in the long run then these features will make the “pro” experience much more complete.

The problem with USB type C is that my iPad Pro is the only device with usb type C. Headphones and my phone both use lightning. I get why they did it and not even an issue but I’m just saying

I would say some disagree based off other threads here or in the iPhone one

I personally prefer Lightning because i have no other USB-C devices / cables. But i acknowledge that USB-C is the future if you already have USB-C enabled devices. USB-C will replace Lightning. If i had an iPad with USB-C (and/or a Mac) then sure, i would hate the fact that my iPhone still has Lightning.

I have zero problems with Face ID & Bezelless Screens. My next iPhone will have all that, and maybe even USB-C. I just don't need to be an early adopter of everything that is new.
