new Display Port-based desktop monitor

will the LED-backlit and DisplayPort-based desktop monitor support the dvd/cd superdrive to be used on one of it's usb ports and work without problems. Since we cannot plug this into other external ports?

Yes. Absolutely. Just plug it in the monitor USB and it works fine.
