new email doubled on icon...

so the last 2 times i checked for mail the amount of new messages shown on the icon was double what it should have been. Like in my gmail inbox i had 5 new messages this morn but the icon had the little red circle with a 10 in it. anyone have any idea why?

Same thing happened to me. If you go into your mail accounts, you will see for whatever reason on setup or syncing of iphone, it creates 2 of the same accounts. My Gmail showed up twice, so I deleted one.

When my mail accounts synced with MobileMe it did the same to my phone. The reason is for some reason it creates duplicate mail accounts, just delete them and all should be fine.
