I've never had this problem before ever! But when I install this new font, it over writes Arial and screws up text on Firefox, changing it to this new font I install...

Good riddance to Arial: it's just a bad knock-off of Helvetica.

As to WHY it's doing this, I know it's easy to fix in Firefox via the Firefox Preferences, but that's just a fix, not a preventative.

You could try renaming the Arial font file (username>Library>Fonts) to something random, then install the new font, then rename Arial back to it's original name.

Yea i have that problem too... the damn font has completely messed up my firefox...

if anybody has a solution to this problem please post it up...

You can change the default Firefox font in preferences.

If you are running Leopard and Time machine you can restore the original font.

You can re-install Firefox (probably the easiest fix).

Overwrite the font

I solved the problem asking to a friend for the original arial font for mac, then overwrite from the library fonts and done!
