I have been in the hunt for an S3 Frontier but I'm probably getting the Active, the price seems great at 199. I will wait and buy one used but that watch looks right up my alley. Anyone getting either of these new watches? I'm surprised the price is as cheap as it is considering their other watches have been high, did they cut corners compared to other watches?

Yeah i ordered the galaxy active when i ordered the S10 plus.

It may not be as good as my current Apple Watch but for 330 quid less you can’t go wrong with that.

The build would probably be easier and might be a cost factor, maybe?
That rotating bezel would bump the price up a bit, in my uneducated view.
I love my Frontier but will consider the new watch when I get the new Note.
The frontier takes a beating.

The irregular heartbeat feature would have me paranoid it I ever got alerts.
I'm looking forward to this. I didn't bother upgrading to the series 4 apple watch because the ECG feature and the irregular heartbeat feature weren't available in the UK.

I've pre ordered the active in rose gold. My apple watches have always been silver so wanted a change. I'm taking that maybe I should get the white as it will match my prism white S10 plus.

I saw this hands on video of the active. I like the look. It looks pretty straight forward to use. Can't wait to try the sleep tracking.

Not sure if I should get this or the Frontier. I see the Frontier used for 125 or so. Are they both the same on water resistance and have the same software?

For the most part the software looks the same. But it's looks like they gave the Active software a slight make over, I notice the widgets look prettier (more Apple like) vs on the Frontier. The same might be for some of the included app.

Yeah that Active looks nice, and for the price point, pretty nice. I may miss that rotating bezel though.

there's a pretty big size difference, FYI, so that may play into it. This new active is ~40mm and the Gear S3 Frontier is 46mm. And it'll be a bit heavier over the watch active.

EDIT: video below show the Galaxy Watch (46mm) but it's the same size as the gear s3 frontier

Is that smaller one as bigger or bigger than my Fitbit Blaze?

Obviously the active isn’t an upgraded galaxy watch as guessing that’s coming out later this year. Do wonder though if this means samsung are ditching rotating bezels going forward.

Yeah I'm starting to think I'm going to preorder the Watch Active. I have somewhat skinny wrists for a guy and after looking at the regular watch in the store, it just looks like it would be huge. I did like the rotating bezels on the S3 Frontier but I think I could live without them. Swiping isn't that hard.

The new Galaxy Watch Active looks to be a nice watch. I appreciate the subtle design changes over previous models and I appreciate the features it brings to the table. I've had a variety of Galaxy Watches. Beginning with the Gear S2, then a Gear S2 Classic and now the Gear S3 Frontier, which I'm currently using. I'm planning on sticking with this Gear S3 Frontier until it dies. I'm sticking with it for the fact that it's the last watch from Samsung that supports payments through MST. I know it's a little thing but boy is it nice to have at times. I rarely, if ever, use my wallet anymore when Samsung Pay does the trick. Honestly, if you know that you don't want (or care) about the MST payments through Samsung Pay, I'd spend the little extra cash on the Galaxy Watch Active. Newer hardware, improved version of Tizen, few more features, etc.

I wonder if the Galaxy Watch Active will have the same quality AOD.

I ask this cause ..... I currently wear the Gear S3 Frontier. Before that it was the Gear S2 Classic. The AOD on the S2 Classic was inferior to the S3 AOD. It one of the reasons I upgraded. The AOD on some watch faces is so detailed. It would suck if they had to skimp on the AOD quality for the Active AODs.

It would definitely make you feel better if there were more hands on reviews. That why I decided to go with the bigger, more expensive Galaxy Watch, even though I have small wrists.

Anyone here use the Galaxy Watch with the iPhone? I've been looking for a while and decided to try out the 42mm Galaxy Watch. I have the original Apple watch which really isn't good for much at this point. The main reason I lean towards the Galaxy is because I want more options for the watch faces, such as realistic looking faces, and an always on display.

Used it for a day and am still getting used to it. So far feel is great and notifications work great as well. Love the choices in watch faces and those options.

Only issue with my galaxy watch...Spotify app does not appear on the watch
You can get the Spotify app from the Galaxy Apps section in the watch app. I never got it working reliably/properly on my Gear S3 though - streaming through the watch usually worked but controlling music on the phone never did. It seems like Spotify have pretty much abandoned it.

It’s not there on the galaxy apps store...it’s got 3rd party ones but not from Spotify itself.

Hmm...according to this, you may have to install it from the Galaxy Apps icon on the watch itself:

“1. Tap Apps from the Samsung wearable home screen.
2. Tap Galaxy Apps.
3. Search ‘Spotify’ and tap Install.”
