Commercials are one thing. But big, resource-heavy banners are just plain annoying.

Mac mini Core 2 Duo 1.83GHz here, and I get small hiccups in the playback. I can't imagine that ad running well on older computers.

And before you tell me my computer is "old", I need to remind you that most people I know still use Windows XP on Pentium 2/3/4 computers with 256-512MB of RAM.

And the easiest way to disable most of those annoying banners is to disable plug-ins completely.

That is actually hilarious (at least in my opinion). It also gets its point across really well. Well done Apple.

What point do you think it got across really well?
It's a resource heavy ad that would be generally annoying to me if I were on the page to read an article. Much like the ones that tell me I just won something because I shopped for something else online.

The ad gave me a chuckle and it is nicely done (the NY times one), but I'd prefer to view the ad on my own will.
