I stumbled on this forum by pure accident and have learned alot of things. After some research here, i have not been able to find a thread that completely answers what i am trying to do.

I have been a long time blackberry user, and was tempted when the first iphone came out to switch to att from tmobile. The only problem is i hate att. so i decided to wait in hopes that iphone would eventually get to the other networks. Since this isn't going to happen, i have decided to get all the information i need before buying an iphone 3G and hack it to tmobile.

So, here is my question. (If anyone can link current 3G unlocking threads that will save time) How does one go about hacking a 3G for a tmobile network and have all the features work properly? I would like a step by step guide for a non-techie, but any help would be great.

Thanks

There is currently no unlock available for the iPhone 3G. You can only, at the moment, jailbreak the iPhone 3G.
And also, the iPhone 3G is not compatible with T-Mobile's 3G network in the US... different frequency or something like that.

Correct, only the first generation iPhone can currently be unlocked and then it is possible to use the Tzone hack so that you have data for $5.99/month. But like dZp said, this will not work on the the 3G iPhone

so why would they invent a wonderful phone only to have it on the worst network/customer service company only?

Thanks for your responses.
