I have one of those sunflower iMacs. It is actually something I salvaged from certain death when previous owner wanted to trash it.

So I recovered it, upped the memory to 1Gb, added bluetooth dongle and installed Leopard (yes on a 800Mhz G4 bus).

This setup obviously reaches the limits of the iMac and when things such as timemachine kick-in, well its time for coffee.

Anyway, I was thinking of replacing the hard disk which is only 80gb with something faster and maybe with more memory. Hopefully this would also make overall responsiveness of iMac better.

Any recommendation on what I should get?

if key information is missing, please ask, as I honestly don't know what is useful.

thanks

I assume you are talking about the G4 iMac with the screen on a swing arm. You should be able to replace it with a standard 3.5" drive but I believe that machine will not handle more than 128GB drive. Ask before you buy.

I had one of those! I used it until about six months ago, mine was the earliest version at only 700 mhz. I ran Tiger on it quite well, but was too cheap to max out the RAM so it didn't run Youtube very well. I bought a new mini instead and gave the old sunflower to my Mom.
