I have the Intel 2.00GHZ 20Inch IMAC and Im going to be getting a 1GB stick of Ram then I wanted to get a 500GB SATA Drive BUT here is where I do not know what to do. Is the drive thats in my IMAC the same as a SATA drive I would buy at like Micro Center or Frys Because in a Picture I seen of a guy taking his apart the DRIVE connecors looked really diff from a Normal SATA hookup so If anyone has any Suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks. I mean I could get a 500GB one for like $100 and If I could just go out and get one that would be great aside from ordering one.

In most computers the SATA is set up like a ATA where there is the cable that plugs into the drive (usually the red cable) we have the ability to plug ours directly in. so any 3.5" SATA drive will work.

Mac Pro HDD price vs iMac HDD Price

Can anybody explain why the upgrade from a 250 GB to a 750 GB HDD in a Mac Pro is $ 299, but $ 399 for an iMac. As best as I can tell, they are both 3 GB/s SATA drives, and probably both the Seagate Barracuda 750 GB.

Surely the $ 100 is not for the more complex installation process in the iMac ?
