The iPads battery life is going to be hard to even approach.
This was a shock for me. I expected much worse, and that it would effect it as an e-reader.
Not so.
Some of these new tablets are probably going to be really nice and much more pwerful than the iPad.
But they will not be better readers.

Yup. With all the ports , Flash and camera etc. any new tablet will have a problem keeping up with the iPad's battery life.
Look at the Joo Joo. It only gets 5 hours. Max.

I'm sorry, and I don't want to be a Fanboy but, it looks like touchscreen mobile phones. Clunky.

all the "other" tablet pc's might have swiss army like features, but i honestly doubt they can be as good as the iPad in terms of UX and also battery life.

I'll probably have to get one of these too! As "featureless" as the iPad is compared to a Windows 7 powered device I have a feeling the iPad's interface and Apps library will rival it.. Eventually if and when the iPad has a camera, multitasking (or maybe even a Mac OS X Lite) people will still do the whole "I'm a Mac/I'm a PC" comparisons..
how tacky was the finger flick in that video! and the gallery slide, its all stuttery-no where smooth as a iphone/ipad roll.
I noticed that as well! Again, Apple just does the little things better/more polished...
The Joo Joo weighs 2.5 lbs. And since the HP Slate isn't a real product yet. We don't know. HP hasn't put out any real specs on it yet. Just artist renderings.
It is funny that people think hp will make a better tablet then apple. A camera is a bad idea for a tablet it just does not work that is why apple did not add one. If the hp slate is over 1.5 pounds it going to be hell trying to use a camera. Flash is horrible people will see lol

And you know that the camera sucks because you have used it and know these things right? Just because apple didn't put it in doesn't mean it sucks. Are you gonna talk about how revolutionary it is next year when apple adds it, and how it is a perfect fit?
Was about to say both these things. If the UI isn't as smooth as Apple's, why bother? The UI is part of the joy of using it, and things there were just not very smooth...
