A premium Huawei P40 Pro variant has leaked out with five rear cameras instead of four and a ceramic rear panel. It supports 10x optical zoom and is expected to feature the Kirin 990 chipset alongside 5G support.

Huawei makes great phones and they look and feel much better than their price point. I had to replace my Huawei Mate SE after I broke it with an Honor 9X in emerald green. It cost me a whopping $214 and it looks and feels like a $700 phone. The best part is the Honor 9X is getting EMUI 11 which supposedly is based on Android 11.

Absolutely agreed! They always get the price, design and feature ratio bang on, and I love how they throw in large batteries in all their device's, you literally do not worry about battery life on a Huawei phone no matter the price.

Have to say they really did well with the P40 Pro, it is just stunning to use this device, and now that I have come to grips with HMS I am a little tempted to make this my main device and relegate my iPhone to secondary phone but unfortunately that's not possible as my iPhone is all setup with my work Exchange/Office365 account along with my Apple Watch, so the P40 Pro will work along with my iPhone.

I really need to get this thing a case though, I feel like the camera bump could get damaged at any point of I put the phone down too hard by mistake.

I never said that at all. I said it most definitely wasn't because they were selling low cost phones.

so what about all the other low cost OEMs that sell quality phones at budgets prices...like say Samsung? Or even all the other low cost Chinese phone makers like OnePlus? They didn't get banned.....

I work in Cyber security.....Huawei has a long reputation of spying and steal IP.I have posted tons of info in other threads.

I have a Huawei P30 Pro along with my iPhone as well. It is a great second smartphone but not as just first smartphone with all these political issues that is complicating the features and functions of the smartphone thanks to Trump

That may be one of the reasons but not the full reason. They do make great smartphones though hands down with no second thoughts.

How do they work on US networks though? Not all bands are supported on the P 40 and actually when looking at them recently, they aren't all that cheap. I was seeing $700-800.
Xiaomi makes real good phones too for cheaper. Just concerned some needed bands are missing.

Such a pity as though really did a fine job with these devices, I still have the P30 Pro as well, fantastic device.

I need to get a case for this P40 Pro, I am really liking it so far, it's a little hefty which is great, it feels expensive and I love the rear glass, it's nice and grippy.

Wait till Qualcomm get a license to supply their chips, that will be another story. And Harmony OS comes into picture, will be even better. This is just my opinion using Huawei devices, others may think otherwise, so be it.

Having owned I can chime in. Cell reception and call quality is very good and perhaps superior to others because Huawei like Motorola is an expert in this field.
The other advantages is you pretty much get two smartphones for the price of one. Like computers you can use two different login methods allowing you to use it and or perhaps someone else too. Asides from that the dual sim function allows you to have fully operational functions of both SIM cards (unlike others like Apple) meaning you can even install 2 apps on one smartphone. As an example you can have one WhatsApp or WeChat for personal use and one for business use. The camera and battery are also superior to others although others recently caught up to them as well. Built quality this in China is what Apple is in the US with all due respect though I do admit that Apple has better privacy features in the encryption department but not on the actual phone use itself as Huawei gets the point for that one while Apple gets the point for encryption.

Yes, they are that good. Expect them to do the unexpected, for someone who thinks the devices are all 'spies' phones. One has to have the 'high end' devices in hand to know the leading tech. I do not work as a phone reviewer unfortunately.

Agree. Huawei do make good devices as we have a Mate SE in the household but I don't know about blowing away the rest.
I only paid $200 for it and why I don't like shelling out $700 on up anymore for a phone. The Huawei works good as does my Pixel 4a ($350)

Obviously English isn't your first language, but even accounting for that you make little sense. And your bias towards Huawei without being able to give the simplest of reasons why they're miles ahead of everyone else takes away any credibility.

Have to say I am absolutely loving this P40 Pro, really solid device, I have WhatsApp, all my social media (FB, Instagram, LinkedIn etc...) got Google Maps working on it, also have UberEats which seems to be working, haven't tried Uber itself yet, but this phone has actually got me wondering what exactly I am missing as I am not heavily reliant on too many Google services other than GMail(got that working with the built-in email app), and YouTube (got YouTube Vanced app though). My banking, car insurance, and life insurance apps were all already available on Huawei AppGallery so that is sorted to

Hmmm, very interesting situation here.

I need to get this device a case, that's really it, overall what a pleasant bit of tech to use. I need to take this camera for a good spin now, it's been raining these last few days as our summer begins, so it's a little gloomy today, hopefully tomorrow then sun will show itself before the thunderstorm starts again.

Another thumbs up for the P40 Pro from a long-time Mac user and iPhone user since iPhone 1!
My iPhone 8 was about to give-up and the choice was a replacement 11.
Decided I needed a change and to be honest it was the ultra-slo-mo videos of the P40 Pro that did it for me!! ?
Using it for nearly 3 months now and the camera is absolutely amazing - it's Leica so it should be! Low light shots are absolutely stunning, and my family's iPhone shots can't get anywhere near.
As to lack of google, it makes no difference to me. Have all the Microsoft apps, Outlook runs just fine, WhatsApp, Telegram, Waze, all work fine. I can find just about any app I need on Petal Search.
The only thing I can't do is get my @icloud emails - but I have an iPad / Mac for that so no big deal.

No Google Pay and Google Maps is a problem depending on where you live though. I just bought the new iPhone 12 Pro Max but also kept my older Huawei P30 Pro. Would have bought the new one if Google Play came with it. Hopefully Biden reverses all this BS Trump imposed upon everyone
