Let's say you buy a Macbook. And two weeks later, iLife '07 comes out, as according to the "golden master" rumor on the frontpage ( https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/325355/ ).

What is Apple's policy or history on upgrading installed applications (NOT OS X) on a new machine , when they come out soon after you purchase/receive the machine?

It would suck to "just miss" the new iLife.

Normally it's a free or lower priced upgrade within a month or less. Not really sure exactly.

Considering the rumours for ages have attributed the delay to Leopard... I don't see why they will ship now... I'll expect them with Leopard in October.

And if you buy a MacBook now, Leopard will not be included for free when it's released, but you will be happy with your purchase.

Hmm, free or discounted would be fine. Does anyone remember what they did about this when iLife '06 came out?

I feel so cheated at the moment. Thanks to Apple's own delays I am expected to shell out more money for something that should have come out during MWSF 07?

I will just five finger discount it.

Do it!

Hey W00t,

While you're at it, get me a copy too...lol.

Note: Like W00t, I am only kidding. :p

My recollection is that it was computers purchased on or after date of announcement. Can't quickly find it, but for panther, it was on or after panther release was announced.

ETA:

And that's what they did for iLife 05
