Hi all,

I posted a message a few days ago in regards to purchasing one of the new iMacs. Well, today, I went to CompUSA on an unrelated business (to buy a new printer), and I couldn't resist visiting the Mac section.

They did not have any new 17" on display, but they had the previous version. I played with it for a few minutes and I was sold. When I got back home, I immediately ordered a new 17" (250GB HD, 1.5 GB RAM, AppleCare) through the Apple store.

Get this...a few minutes after I placed the order, the hard drive just turns off and I get a blue screen of death. Some physical memory dumping error, blah blah blah. Well, needless to say, I'm glad I was able to complete the purchase of my new iMac!! Been a PC user for too many years now :D

Anyway, I hesitated buying iWork '05. I've also heard that Office for Mac is pretty decent. Do you guys recommend iWork '05?

Also, I would like to do some video editing...always been afraid to attempt that on a PC, ahaha. Which software would you recommend for video editing?

I'm glad to be part of this new community. Thank you in advance!

Congratulations. Hopefully your PC will hold out until the new Mac arrives. :)

Definitely get Office, don't bother with iWork unless you're particularly impressed with the trial that'll come pre installed. Hold out on the new movie-making software until you've given iMovie and iDVD a whirl.

Good choice on the iMac, Mine was just delivered today, you'll love it!

Office for Mac is decent, and if your a student you can get it for $149

iMovie HD is built into the computer as a part of iLife '05 when it's delivered.... It should be sufficient for most needs for the everyday basic editing. If your into advanced stuff you can get Final Cut Express HD, But I'd think iMovie would be perfect.
