kathmandu, nepal
just installed a new imac in our studio and when first powered on the fan ran full bore constantly. thought was strange considering it was pretty cold coming right out of the box. turned it off after doing the install thing and unplugged from the power cable. then no fan, even when running warm. so i installed smcfancontrol and while the prog does not seem to support the imac well, it did manage to control fan speed. so i was thinking all is well and good - the fans work, until i got around to doing the bootcamp thing. the fans never come on in windows. our dealer here in Nepal knows nothing technical, and a replacement would be a month away. what do do? is there a way to check and see if the box is bad, or if there is something else wrong? thx!

I have a 24 Imac as well. When you cold boot it I do hear the fan, but once it boots into the OS I hear nothing ever! Even playing warcraft for hours I never hear the fan kick back on....

Hi there, yes of course its a harsh figure of speech. But in reality, everything here does go in the Bagmati River. I guess I should change the tag line, but at the time i was upset as we were a pc shop that almost went under till we retrofitted with macs....
