Hi;

I bought a 24" iMac 2.9GHz last week, and it arrived on friday.

Yesteday I realized that it has a dead or stuck pixel: It's magenta when background is white or grey; But it turns into black on a green or black background... So I think that green sub-pixel is dead.

What should I Do? Should I try to change it for a new one? Anyone has the same problem?

Regards

There have been quite many similar issues. Where is it? Center of screen? Call to Apple and ask what you should do.

its just between the center of the screen and the right side (so it's not exactly on the center, but neither at the corner of the screen)

If Apple doesn't want to give me a new iMac, I can return it and then buy a new one lol... (I have 14 days to return the iMac if I don't want it, because European law... Don't know if on the rest of the world is the same)

I don't know if it's stuck or not; One pixel contains three sub-pixels (red-blue-green), and I think that green subpixel is dead (but not the entire pixel)... So I don't know what can I Do.

I've tried some apps to solve it for about 30min, but nothing happens.

Sorry about the luck.

Does that cost money? In canada there are restocking fees but if it's law over there then maybe it is free?

No, it's free :D!

However, I'm wondering if I should stay or return it... It's not an always black or white pixel, and it's very small...So it's not disturbing...
And I've already configured all my iMac, with all my data, my apps, bootcamp... I'm confuse :S...

My question es... Will that pixel become black some day? Could anyother pixel dead? Would you return the iMac?

Recently, I had a new iMac with a dead pixel too and was wondering if I should also return it or deal with it.

Some of the best advice I got was, to paraphrase, if you're posting here about it, it's probably bothering you. Therefore, if you can, try to go for a replacement. :)

Good luck!
