New iMac always needs disk repair.

hi, my new imac, which i've only had for about 5 months, is always needing disk repair. i find it running a bit sluggish sometimes, so i go onto disk utility and run verify disk. it then lets me know that it needs disk repairing. why is it always needing this? it is pretty annoying since my 2008 macbook doesn't do this much. my macbook usually needs a disk repair every few months, possibly 1 time a month if not at all. today i used the techtool deluxe, and apperantly the video ram failed the test. what is wrong with this imac?

Maybe the HD is going bad. Can Disk Utility repair the disk when you try to repair it?

WHAT? how can the disk be going bad if i've only had it for a couple of months. The disk utility is able to repair the disk. i read the repairing and it says things like ...."log 90340" should be "log 90345 instead of 90340" ( these numbers where just random) but you get the idea. it then repairs them, but a couple of weeks later i have the same issue..:/

Hard drives can fail at any time. Even after hours of use.

In the mean time, I would keep you data backed up as if it is the hard drive, at any time it can just quit. You can try to turn it on tomorrow and it simply will not boot.

iMac Hard Drive issues

Can you provide your serial number or Model number of iMac? It's very common for hard drives to fail with iMac's, the hard drive lives behind the lcd screen and without proper ventilation they tend to die very quickly from overheating issues. In your case, 5 month old iMac should not be experiencing this type issues but this hard drive might be a bad drive from factory (its possible). Keep and eye on issues related to video, again because of the heat, the nvidia chips also tend to fail. Video Issues may show up as a black screen when powering up your mac or a scrabbling image.
