I would like to see:

1. Montevina chipset used.

2. Radeon Mobility HD 3650 graphics card with 512MB VRAM.

3. 750GB Hard Drive standard in the top-of-the-range iMac.

4. Magnetic clip for a new Aluminium remote.

5. A Mighty Mouse with an iPod classic-like click wheel.

6. BTO Blue-Ray player.

people are killing me>

the mac pro will get blue ray long before the iMac will

so stop wishing..it wont happen for a while

i always want to know why people insist on having blu ray all the time. i mean besides for backing everything up on one disk, what is the average person going to need it for?

and faster imac, actually they r already fast, but one more thing:-

an imac that its like tv, i mean hanging my imac into my wall, just like my plasma screen in my room.

and of curse big screen, 28-30 inch will be fair enough  just to get rid of my screen and palce my imac.

but i know thats not gonna happen :p
so a little damn hope wont hurt ;)

In no particular order:

- an eSATA external drive interface

- a video input

- a BluRay option (or at least, software to support external BR drives)

- a standard DVI connector -- instead of the mini-DVI silliness

- separate S/PDIF connectors -- instead of the "combo jack" silliness

- a microphone input (or a high-gain setting on the line input)

- a firewire controller that actually works

- a mouse that actually works

- a matte display option

- a better-than-Wal*Mart-quality 20" display

- a pedestal with height adjustment

...in a nutshell: function before form!

Yeah, video in! The ability to use the iMac as a replacement for my TV would be amazing!

I don't know how Apple feel on the matter, but I always thought that Blue-Ray was more of a consumer thing, not a professional thing. So it made more sense to me to get the Blue-Ray players in the consumer machine first.

Yes...I'd be happy if that came back, seems silly to have taken that away after the white ones.

Though what is more likely, is that Apple will stop giving the remotes with all computers sold, and you would have to buy the separately (like you have to with the MacBook and MacBook Pro).

1. No
2. It would take ages, if your camera has bluetooth then it can be done.
3. Likely, if not who cares, its already as thin as most TFT's

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. Doubt it
5. No
6. No

True. I'm planning on getting a MacBook Pro. You'd think that after spending over $2,000 on a computer I'd at least get a free remote. But I guess they figure if you can buy a laptop you can afford the extra $19 or whatever it is, haha :)

My wishes:
  1. Video card at 512MB in midrange and high end.
  2. Option for BTO matte screen.
  3. Quad core chip in high end model.
  4. 8 gig max ram.
  5. Firewire 800.
  6. HDCP compliance for future external blu-ray drives.
While not everyone may be interested in having a blu-ray device today, there are plenty who want them, and it's just a matter of time before they become cheaper and more widely available. We already have them in our MP's at work for backing up, and they are not presently consumer priced, nor is the media for recording.

The 24" iMacs currently have HD resolution, so people are bound to be interested in this option eventually, if not now, and those considering buying this new refresh of iMacs are likely to expect at least 2 years of usage out of it, hence my wish #6.

What I see updated is

-Penryn (still with santa rosa)
-2gb standard
-500gb standard
- A graphics update ( either the 8600, or an ati 3650 card )
that's what's likely to happen

But who knows since its the 10 year anniversary they might do something special. I really hope so
Either way i'll still be picking up the iMac :D

No real order...

  • Montiva Platform
  • ESATA support
  • HD3650M standard, 8800M option for 24 (maybe standard on the extreme model)
  • 500 base, 750 on 20+ and 24 models, and maybe 1tb on 24 Extreme
  • A little more ram support would be nice

I don't think the imac needs a redesign, rather, apple seem more inclined to redesign the rest of their range AROUND the iMac's new design

When did it become a crime to dream? And who put you in charge?

I'm hoping for blue ray, in fact, that would seal the deal for me. Otherwise, I may go for refurbished previous generation.

I hope they stay with the same aluminum look and just add more memory and bigger hard drives which is likely to happen no matter what. I don't care about the processor since it will be unnoticeable on this upgrade anyways. Those two things are all I want and I'm in.

It is going to just get a small processor bump, with 2 GBs of RAM standard, bigger hard drives, and maybe a graphics card upgrade.

Calm the f*ck down. The thread clearly says What would YOU like to see in the new iMac. If you can't understand that, let me spell it out:

What would you, as a consumer, like to see in the new iMac. It might not happen, but if you were Steve Jobs what would you be adding to the iMac.

I hope that helps the confusion you seem to be having with this thread.
