So I bought one of the new 24" aluminum iMacs and ever since I have been using it, it has been super quiet and I have been loving it! My wife on the other hand believes that the disc drive is messed up and has been harping on me to get it fixed. I know it is common for the drive to make sound when performing operations, but how bad should it be?

Sometimes when burning discs or playing CDs it will idle in one spot and chug away until I have to force quit iTunes. I usually resort to checking her disc, because she has alot of scratched ones. Even though other players will play the CD fine, with a few skips here and there, the iMac won't finish importing or playing the songs. How loud should the disc drive be?

I hope you understand and can give any insights as I don't want to take in my computer unless it is needed. Thanks…
