I've been waiting until May 3rd to see how the new iMacs would be like, and am now ready to make the big jump from PC world to Mac World.
Basically I need a robust machine for:

- Audio and Midi recording with Pro Tools 8. (Mbox2 mini)
- Web Design with Dreamweaver and Flash
- Voip Calls

Anyone here tested the new iMacs with protools yet?
Shall I purchase now with Snow Leopard installed to overcome compatibility issues with Pro Tools or wait for OSX Lion... how long will it take Avid to release an update?

I would love the 27' version but it doesn't fit underneath the bookshelf.. neither in my budget. So I am looking at the 21.5' models either the lowend 21.5' with 4gigs of RAM or maybe 8 (? do i really need it?) or the high end model for the 1T HD (but I could just get an external HD for that later on)

What's the difference performance wise between the 2 21.5' models? I don't do gaming and do not need intergallactic graphics really.. except photoshop/fireworks/flash editing.

Voip calls. I use skype through an ATA box connected to my home phone. anybody here is using it too on a mac with Skypemate?

Cheers

I switched from windows protools on my self built i7 to Mac protools when I installed osx on the same machine. All the error messages disappeared! It's been a flawless experience. I'm looking to buy one of the new iMacs for protools as well. Let me know how it gos if you do it before me.
