I already have a MBP, and talked the wife into getting an imac after the dell (she loathed this machine, so made the sell very easy) crapped the bed. When deciding on a bluetooth mouse for my MBP, I passed on the mighty mouse wireles becasue of mostly the review here seemed negative. I ordered the corded version for this imac that came friday.

Long story short, I have been using the MM and found it to be quite enjoyable! In fact I actually prefer it to the Logitech V220 that Im using now. I found out that I have a tendency to lift my left finger off the botton even when using a normal 2 button mouse. This made the use of the MM very natural to me. The absolute best part of the MM is the freaking scroll ball. That this is almost orgasmic to use!! I L O V E the mechanical smoothness and feel of the ball in motion. Using the app steermouse I was able to fine tune this puppy to perfect.

For ANYONE on the fence about the MM, let me assure you that it is pretty awesome, and from a person that is ULTRA picky to the point of OCD about my mice.

Good review!

My iMac is prepared for shipping, so it should be coming in a few days. I'm going to be using the standard wired MM which comes with it, so thanks for the positive feedback on it.

I was worried it was going to be horrible, but I've read some reviews, like this one, that say it's great, so now I'm not worried :D

When your scrollball stops working, you won't like the MM so much. Search the forum for cleaning tips on the MM, you will, unfortunately, find many threads on the issue.

Periodically my scroll ball gets erractic. All I do is turn the mouse upside down and rub the scroll ball portion back and forth on my pant leg to remove any oils etc from it and till today it functions great!

:D

What a coincidence, I threw my Mighty Mouse in the garbage today. When I first got it, I was similarly in love with the scroll ball. As time passed, it was less and less smooth, despite my best efforts to clean it. Picked up a Logitech MX400 today for $15. No way I'm going to spend $50 again just to toss it in 4 months.

You should have gotten Apple to replace it for you. I did that with mine after I said to them that cleaning was just not doing it.

MMM.. See the "Dust" issue doesn't apply to the new MM. Apple fixed that.

PS: I've just bought a BT Mighty Mouse and isn't bad at all, it's smooth, light even with two batteries in it ('cos I thought it would be extremely heavy after all the negative feedback), very functional and really simple to set up.

Worth the money, great mouse. So stop complaining!!

I am hoping that this doesnt buy the farm in 4 months. I was an old schooler with the the mouse back when it was a ball driven beast( remember those days. a few years ago? lol) Im proud to say that I took meticulous care of my balls..washing them...drying them with a lint free cloth...and generally attending to them regularly. Now I realize you cannot take out the MM bal, however there are ways to care for it. Wish me luck...

Unfortunately it's out of warranty, and I don't feel like trying to argue with Apple to get a new one. It was great while it lasted.

the scroll ball is so frustrating and to add to that the case of my particular mouse is poorly built and has a lot of give.

when it works, it's a good mouse.

You should really recycle that mouse properly instead of throwing it in the trash. Unleash "throwing it in the garbage" means to recycle in which case I apologize.

I personally HATE the mighty mouse....I just got a new iMac last week and I can't wait until I get a replacement mouse.....

I've had a G5 quad for over a year now and have hated the mighty mouse since then...

I'm too clumsy to like the touch sensitive buttons......and I don't understand what is with the "squeeze" button on the sides.......for me that's so completely un-natural to have to take my hand off the mouse to squeeze it with a finger and thumb.....maybe if you practiced for a while you can use this button with the pinky and thumb, but still that's too un-natural for me....

maybe I need to build some muscle in my pinky to be able to handle this chore...

that is all

Where its way too hot.
Have had the MM for about 2 months and still loving it so far. Especially after I finally found out it is a 2-button mouse after all. When I first got my iMac, found this forum and the first thing I read was that it was only a one button mouse. I found out accidentally.

BTW, my wife got the bt600 and its terrible. laggy, not very good tracking, lost connection constantly, not very precise. I called Radtech for her and they said they would send another that is laser instead of optical. We'll see.;)

My MM is in a drawer somewhere. It found itself there within less than 5 minutes of use. Not being able to left and right click at the same time is a huge design oversight.

I'll probably include it for sale with my old computer to squeeze $10 more out of the price point.

Personally I found the MM to be the least ergonomic mouse I've ever used. I think my hands are reasonably average in size but just found the MM too flat and too small. I gave up after less than 24 hours as I knew it would just end up making my hand hurt :(. I'm now using a logitech mouse that I had connected to my old PC and have ordered a VX Revolution from Amazon :D.

i'm not sure if you're supposed to use your pinky...i use my ring finger and don't find it troublesome at all. i love the mighty mouse. unfortunately my scroll ball has just clocked out after a year of use. oh well, i do have a feeling apple will be changing it soon enough. i will wait.

I love the MightyMouse. Scroll wheel button for "show desktop", squeeze for "all windows". Really like it. Makes app switching incredibly quick. I don't use hot corners half as much as I used to.

Does take some getting used to though, and I don't think the tracking is the smoothest out there.

I'm not that fond of the Mighty Mouse... it's good but it has several disadvantages. I don't like the fact that you have to press the entire body for a click, and the fact that it's optical means you can't use it on glossy surfaces.

If there was a corded laser version, I'd probably pick it up though. Can't be bothered with batteries.

Don't worry, a lot of us started out in love with the mighty mouse, myself included. After about three months of use the scroll bar just decided it didn't want to scroll down anymore! I don't think it went from left to right either. As well as the scroll botton being defective, i found the side buttons to be the in the worse spot on the mouse, if i wanted to click them i would have to move my hand up on the mouse to get a decent grip.

I will be sending in the mouse soon for replacement, and just to let you know, I picked up a Logitech Revolution mouse, best investment i have made!
