New iMac, how to transfer (without losing anything from the source) iPhone playlists to new iMac?

I've just picked up a August 2020 27" iMac and I think that the time has arrived.
I'm going to roll up my sleeves and clean up the utterly unholy mess that Apple iTunes and then Apple Music has made of the User Directory "Music".
Part of this process will be a desire to import to the new iMac playlists from my iPhone 7 Plus.
Does anyone have any breadcrumbs or suggestions or links on how to go about this task?
