I'm so excited to order a new iMac now (it's January 17 now) but want to be patient in case Apple make changes in 2011. When do insiders say a new iMac will become available? Should I wait or are the changes, if any, not worth waiting for? Thanks!

Have a search of the forum - all your questions have been asked and answered already. There should be quite a bit for you to read.

Just remember, no one knows when they're coming out for sure, it's all statistics and speculation. It's always amusing to read the "my sisters', brothers', former roomate works for apple and they said..." threads. Hehe.

I was about to also say check the guides. An update should be around the corner before Lion comes out since that is so far away.Current lineup is Mid 2010 and if you could wait I would. If not just go for it and resell it when the new one's come out if you don't mind the depreciation hit.

There will always be something sweeter and newer "just" around the corner. If you need one now, just get it and don't look back. While the others are still waiting, you're already enjoying... mine will arrive this week :)

My shiny new 27" iMac, i7 with 16GB RAM just arrived today. I thought about waiting for Sandy Bridge, but decided it wasn't worth the wait. I don't expect to see a dramatic difference in performance from the current line of CPU's.

honestly the difference in power won't be noticeable to most normal users. Power users will see the most gains.

Buy a refurbished one now from Apple. It has the same warranty as a new one and you're saving a few bucks. And if an updated model comes out later this year, you won't feel so bad since you didn't pay full price for the one you have.
