Another issue with this 2nd replacement - every day, when it boots for the first time, safari chokes whilst trying to load the homepage, and the signal meter drops to 2 bars. I can use my ipod Touch in the same location with full strength, and as soon as I switch Airport off and on again, the signal comes back to full, and the connection stays stable for the rest of the day, even when it's been to sleep.

This didn't happen with the first two - any ideas what this could be? My guess would be that the airport card is a bit dodgy?

Have you looked at the router? Resetting it etc?

why? it works perfectly for the rest of the day, no matter how many times it goes to sleep. iPod Touch works fine, PC laptop works fine. Other iMac worked fine this morning before it got shipped off.

What would the router have to do with whether the iMac is cold-booted or not?
