Hi everyone,

I just got my new iMac 24" C2D and noticed as soon as it booted up there was a crackling/staticky noise coming from the speakers...is this normal? I was thinking that it may be the hard drive as I don't know what it is supposed to sound like. I have a macbook and it doesn't have that problem. Right now its just updating and so far only heard the sound a couple times...from the iMac
The sound was adjusted all the way up and all the way down, and that doesn't change anything. It makes the sound intermittantly, when I'm on the Net, happens when a new website loads, then theres also a buzzing noise that happens once in a while for 5-10 seconds each time. I already talked to someone from Apple about it, she said it was normal, cuz her Mac does that too? Has something to do with static electricity but I don't see how that couldn't be a bad thing for the computer. Anyways, if anyone has had an experience similar to this or whether this is normal, please let me know. Thanks!

Kelvin

so is no one experiencing the same problem as I am here? I have to find out whether this is normal or whether I may have a defect unit so if anyone could please respond with their experience that would be appreciated. Thanks

I have heard this happen to some iMacs, 17-24" as some were load like the pop of a bubble wrap bubble  I'm not sure if this is normal but was told that it's similar to when a car engine ticks after you shut it off (I know bad example). Try calling AppleCare and see what they say about it.
