is possible that new imac come on january mac expo with matte display? or with led? if is led the price are more expensive? and why not matte? what about pro designers for work on that glossy.

Iam designer but I work on matte... my sister buy a imac and I try to calibrate but I still think that is not good for designers and photographers... the color levels are not the same.

I want a perfect iMac for january... I want move to mac pro to imac...

comments?

No one knows for sure, but Apple's trend has been towards:

1) glossy
2) LED

It seems very unlikely they will return to a matte screen. It is more likely (although still unlikely) that they will not move to LED.

There could be some protective anti-glare films for iMacs, but the quality would still not be as good as with an ACD.
LED,possible, maybe just a bit more expensive, Matte iMacs probably not so soon if ever. Maybe I didn't care much but I don't remember many people complaining about iMacs being glossy, saying the screen is gorgeous yes though.

Apple has for the most part moved most of their displays to glossy screens which I really do like compared to the matte screens. I don't think we will see LED displays in the iMacs for a while because just look at the price of Apple's new 24 inch LED Cinema Display, it's $899. Prices still need to come down for them to make it to the iMac.

I highly doubt that the iMac will go back to the matte displays. Its a consumer oriented product, and clearly, Apple believes that consumers only want glossy displays.

I agree. I don't anticipate a move back to matte. The jobs has spoken.

I think the same, apple dont back to matte but so... I talk about the pros, Is really the best option for the pros working on a glossy screen? you know for retouch photos, etc... I dont move to glossy for that reason... well I wait for see the new imacs or new monitors.

I think the glossy vs. matte is moot. Apple will not sacrifice the majority over minority. Use your logic and reasoning skills to figure which is which. With that being said, I believe it will be LED, which will result in a thinner chassis ( not a huge difference, but not insignificant nonetheless ), and have corner to corner glass, just like the current line of notebooks. Right now, there is a slight border of aluminum, so it's not corner to corner.

I think that the new iMacs will be offered in glossy only, and that there will be much gnashing of teeth about it.

Matte displays are dead, or so Apple claims. Expect any upcoming iMac to be available only with a glossy display.

But I've had my new iMac for about a month now, and going from matte to glossy was a very minor thing for me. Everything looks just as it always had. And there's no noticeable glare at all, at least when the machine is on, which is 24/7.
