upgrading

Hi, if you upgrade memory, do you have to have the same size memory in each slot? For instance, could I add 2, 4 gb cards in the empty slots and use with the existing 2, 2 gb for a total of 10 gb?

Or would I need to either add 2, 2gb in the open slots for a total of 8 gb or just toss them and replace with larger modules?

Thanks

You mean 12Gb. No they don't have to be the same size, as long as they are the same ram type DDR3 PC3-10600. So you could do 2x2gb in the front and 2x2gb in the back or 2x2gb in the front and 2x4gb in the back (8gb or 12gb).
