New iMac & Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter problems reported on engadget

it's designed to work the other way around...

to output a video signal from the imac to a dvi monitor...
 
Meriana, but the new iMac 27" is supposed to be able to handle both MDP in & output. If Apple restricts the input to only being able to handle MDP<==>MDP, the use is somewhat limited.
 
this issue has been heavliy discussed in other threads like connecting xbox to the imac.... when it comes down to it, xbox, ps3, cable boxes, etc... all suffer the same problems since they all connect via HDMI. If you find 1 solutution, most likely some sort of converter box that can do hdmi/dvi--->MDP then your set for all devices.
