So, I got one of 'em 20" iMacs to replace my old G4. In Setup I do the 'Transfer my information from another Mac' option, got them linked up, restart the G4 and get the symbol, but the iMac still says 'Waiting for your old Mac to restart'.

Anyone know what I could be doing wrong?

I'm not sure why that would be. After opening up my new machine, and connecting the old Powerbook G4 with it, there were no problems with initial start up file transfer, but, I wasnt able to mount the powerbook's HD on the iMac. I called in and the guy I spoke to said he didnt think it was a problem with my new iMac, but rather a problem with something that allows the g4's drive to mount on the iMac when it is in firewire mode. To fix the problem, I basically did the same thing, but in reverse. I put the imac into firewire mode and then I was able to mount its HD on the powerbook's desktop.
