New iMAC ... need RAM

I have my brand new iMAC (2.66 GHz) coming this Friday. I'm looking to buy RAM for it. Does anyone recall which one I should use?
 
There's nothing cheap about Crucial or any other RAM supplier for these module right now.

$900+ for 8GB is just insane.

Yea, 4GB DDR3 chips are very expensive from every manufacturer. I guess the OP won't be putting 8GBs, maybe 4GBs.
 
Im pretty sure 4gb is the maximum that his iMac can use..

EDIT: Sorry it is only my last gen 2.66 20" that can support only up to 4gb..

Did search for RAM/memory ... you'll be surprised how many results there are. Especially since "RAM" is on most users' signatures. But thanks for wasting a post.

Thanks all for the feedback. I have yet to get the iMAC so once I do, I'll be going for the additional memory.
 
This may seem silly to some but I bought an iMac last fall. it came with 2Gb RAM and i thought about upgrading shortly after but as my old PC box had only 1GB this was a nice jump. I think I will stay with the 2GB until I feel it is slow/sluggish and then upgrade to 4GB. It should be cheaper then (maybe only $5-10) but that way when it may seem like my computer is starting to look/feel drab it will get a boost and offer more years of computing.

Can someone explain to me why I keep seeing people on these boards giving out crucial as the "cheap" option?
Crucial is about the most expensive place you can buy RAM. Not only that, but they check your cookies for other RAM sellers to see if they can goad you into paying an even higher price.

Granted, they've got a good warranty and a reputation for quality, but you might have trouble finding ram that is any more expensive than what crucial charges.

Well, if you buy direct from Crucial, then yes but who doesn't do their homework anymore and check newegg, tigerdirect, etc. to see who has the best price? When I bought my Crucial RAM, I got it from newegg and it was at least $10 less than on crucial.com; and it was free shipping, too.
