After Jobs's letter on apple.com regarding Apple becoming a "greener" company (and the selling point of LED displays on the 15" MacBook Pro), I find it curious that there was no such movement with the new iMacs. I have yet to find any desktop displays that utilize LEDs over fluorescent lamps (although admittedly I haven't searched that thoroughly), so perhaps displays at the 20" and 24" sizes have yet to transition to LEDs. There wasn't any mention of LEDs in the Q&A afterwards, either.

Was anyone else looking for this feature on the new iMacs?

You answered your own question.

Large LED-backlit displays are still to rare/expensive to be included. Expect them probably sometime next year.
