So im going back to university next week and i thought i'd finally upgrade, i'll be needing more power from my system this year-i do mainly audio production and audio for film/tv and this last year i've really been pushing my apps to the limit where my 2gb ram ceiling was not enough.. not to mention having to upgrade my mini to a 2.16 (scary) for more power:(.. but now yes finally, i ordered the beast. It should be waiting for me as soon as i get back, its a 20" 2.4ghz 320gb model purchased with my HE discount (very sweet);).. i'll be taking pics of my setup as soon as it comes. I'm going to be hooking it up to my 20" ACD.. Should be interesting to see what a glossy/matte display setup will look like/behave on the eyes. Either way i cant wait for a dual 20" setup, all that screen space, ooooo baby!

anyways, check back soon and i'll post some pics..

ciao tutti

PS. Nearly forgot, 4gb of Kingston ram is also on the way, found em cheap cheap cheap!

bang..

it's alright.. like the speed, dont really think much of the screen.. compared to my 20" ACD.. :apple:
oh do excuse my mess, i've just moved back in and i need to clean up!

Judging by your pics, I like the glossy display a lot better. While the reflection of the glossy is a bit more obvious, it's small and only visible un der certain angles. The matte of the ACD really has that washed out lightblob that's covering 1/3 of the screen.

Sorry for the off-topic, just noticed this :p

I would've sold the standalone display and upgraded to a 24" =) with leopard can't you run multiple desktops anyway?

hmm.. do you have any evidence of this? i doubt apple would go and pull that one on everyone. that would p!$$ a hell of alot of people off.

spaces looks like it will be great for tabbing between different screen layouts on the one screen, however this isnt going to help for all those tool palettes in programs like PS and ILL.

now spaces on a dual screen setup, that will be sweet.
colour accuracy on the ACD and your palettes on the imac screen, nice!!!

Thanks for posting the pics, I was curious to see what the two would look like paired together.

You're monitors seem a bit high to get an accurate stereo image. It also makes the tweeters farther from the woofer, giving you phase problems and perhaps comb filtering of some frequencies. If I were you, I would put them at about head level to the position you are mixing, equidistant from you as each other. I can't imagine that you stand up to mix. I hope this recommendation can improve your enjoyment of your DAW.

thanks for your recommendations, but i know my fair share of acoustics and have been in this game for a while, i do stand up sometimes and walk around my room so i can get a good picture of what it will and does sound like, and believe me, i have tried every speaker position available - to the space i have and this works the best for me.. its not ideal but sure works.. next year im seting myself up with some proper 'working' studio space rather than living and working from the same area.. i get really good bass response from setting it up this way, its a 2.0 setup not 2.1.. subs are bad unless you are running a full 5.1 setup.. in my opinion anyway, we'll see..
anyhows, im starting to like the setup more and more, not completely convinced by the glossy screen but im warming to it.. hell, i cant complain really can i, it's beautiful..

To the OP: If you are going to post pics showing beers in the pics you need to share the wealth with everyone. Where's mine? :D
