I am on the fence, they are both just too perfect... What is it that you like best or worst about each?

I like having both! :D Looking at your sig I'd say grab yourself a newer high end MBP and you should be set for a good long while.

I just upgraded my 3.5 yr old MBP 15 to a MBP 13" I am going to let the new product bugs get worked out of the imac and then I am all over a 27"

D.

I went from a black MacBook to my early 09 iMac and I loved it. However I do find myself wishing that I still had the freedom of a laptop. If you can afford it I'd say get a iMac and then a MacBook. Use your iMac for things that need more power and have your MacBook for simple things like surfing the web, email, that kind of stuff. The new MacBooks look pretty nice and you can get the low end MacBook Pro with the illuminated keyboard for about $200 more.

I'm in the same dilemma. I am, as of right now, leaning toward getting an iMac because I already have an iPhone for mobility and a 2006 Macbook. Also, if I don't have a new Macbook Pro, my girlfriend will be more open to me getting the Apple Tablet next year.

Get both

I'm getting a 13" MBP and a 27" iMac when 10.6.2 comes out, just to check the bugs are ironed out. Should get a good three years out of the two of them.

I'm loving my 15" MBP. It's easily the finest piece of computing hardware I've ever owned, and I've been at this a while. It's virtually silent, starts up almost instantly, has great performance, great screen and keyboard, battery life, I could go on all day. :) Ultimately I think it really boils down to whether or not you plan on wanting to take the thing with you when you are out and about.

Hey by the way, if you happen to be an iPhone user too I'd love to point you to my free iPhone polling app called Show of Hands. We're still looking for our first Hawaiian voter. :)

Aloha!

if i had to choose just one it would definitely be the MBP as you can just plug it into an external monitor while at home and instant desktop. They are fast and powerful enough for 90% of any applications you may throw at it anyway.

However I am thinking of an additional Imac just to keep at home as well, should really enjoy the screen

Well the iMacs start out with faster processors, so that is pretty good. The displays, if you get a good one, are also awesome. The iMac feels a bit more "new," as the refresh just happened the notebooks have been out a while.
