Need a bit of advice..
Bought my trusty Intel iMac Core Duo back in summer 2006 and it has been great. 24in and I have gotten huge usage out if it. I use it a lot, mainly for web browsing, email, watching DVD's, some work stuff that needs to be done after I get home (Document amending, some Excel work etc).
But it's approaching it's last legs now. The hard drive is beginning to give issues and it's just time to change it. I watch a lot of NFL videos on it from their site and those videos are really taxing the system.
Looking at the refurb store here, there are two 27in iMacs that look good. The i5 2.66 and the i7 2.8. Difference is about 120 between the two. Obviously neither are the current models on offer but they are both still very good performers from the research I've done.
Question is. Is it worth paying more to get the i7?
I'd also like to install Windows and put in MS Flight Simulator which is a real frame rate killer plus subscribe to NFL's Game Pass which we can get over here in Europe which shows all games live. So the 27in screen will come in handy to watch several games at once if I want.
To sum up, I use my Computer A LOT. As I suspect most people do here. It's my prime "entertainment" device now, I use it way more then my TV/DVD Player etc.
So a good computer is important.
