I just bought a new iMac and i love it. If you guys are not sure of what to get go with the 20" 2.4ghz model it's probably the best value. Anyway i was just wondering which router you people use because i need to get one. So yeah, I need to know what router is the best, for the lowest price and best speed on wireless.

thanks

Should work with just about any wireless router. I use a linksys wrt54g works great, 5meg on the download, WPA protected no problems at all. Think it was about 50 dollars.

Airport Extreme 802.11n!

I have tested many routers including 3COM, Linksys, D-Link and I am very happy with my latest router - the Airport Extreme with 802.11n and gigabit ethernet. The only problem i've had is that when connecting a USB hard disk to it, the transfer speed to the disk is about 3 MB/s when the disk connected directly to the computer is about 17 MB/s (and even through a network the speeds should be able to accommodate higher than 3 MB/s speeds - i've tested both wired and wireless).

I'm using a Netgear dg834g. It's a wireless one with built-in ADSL modem, and works without a flaw with the iMac built-in airport extreme card.

I'm using a Linksys WRT54GS v1.1, the ultimate 802.11G router, have it running an IRC bouncer and used to also run a web server off it. Overclocked, and radio output bumped up also. it's basically a Linux box thats why it's so good. They don't make it anymore unfortunately, they make one similar, but it doesn't have near the RAM, storage or CPU speed.

Only thing I haven't done to it yet is the memory card reader mod to bump the capacity up even more, add a nice good 2GB of more of memory to it.

Get a Linksys WRT54GL and install DD-WRT firmware on it. :)
I havn't rebooted mine for more than a month! :D

Firmware: DD-WRT v23 SP2 (09/15/06) std
Time: 13:12:21 up 45 days, 3:59, load average: 0.16, 0.03, 0.01
