Hi All,

I have a new iMac i7.
Approx 2 months old.
Several times now the screen has gone entirely black. Happens when I am very gently moving the machine on my desktop (slowly sliding the machine back or forward approx 3 inches). First couple times I thought I had unjiggled the power cord and the machine was off, but it is firmly in there and I've since noticed that the machine is not off, the screen just goes black.

Hitting a key or using the mouse 'awakens' the machine like nothing happened.

Pretty sure it is not a display/cpu sleep issue as the screen is not dimmed before this happens.

Has this happened to anyone else? Cause for concern? There appear to be no other problems with this machine and wouldn't want to trade it in and inherit new problems.

Thanks to all,
Joe

You might be accidentally touching the power button ever so lightly. That would cause it to go to sleep. Then when you hit a key or the mouse it wakes back up.

Do you have it set to sleep ASAP ?

same problem
