New iMac target display mode

It appears that the previous generation iMac is incompatible with PCs using ATI 5XXX series video cards that have a full size Displayport output. I wonder if the new iMacs have fixed this incompatibility? Sure would appreciate it if someone with a new iMac and a PC running an ATI 5XXX series card would give it a try if they have the correct cables.
